SRINAGAR: In a move aimed at ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services, the Office of the Medical Superintendent at Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla has issued an order regulating the entry of Medical Representatives (MRs) from pharmaceutical and medical companies into hospital premises during working hours.
The order, issued on July 18, 2025, cites concerns over frequent visits by MRs to Out-Patient Departments (OPDs), wards, and other hospital sections during working hours, which have been causing “avoidable disturbances and interruptions” in patient care and consultation.
According to the directive, no Medical Representative will be allowed to visit any doctor or hospital section before 3:30 PM on working days. Violators of the rule may face strict disciplinary action, including a permanent ban from the hospital premises.
The Medical Superintendent has further warned that hospital staff entertaining MRs before the stipulated time will also be held accountable and face disciplinary measures.
Heads of Departments and Section Incharges have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the order in their respective areas. Security staff and gate personnel have also been directed to maintain records of all visiting MRs, including their time of entry and purpose of visit. (KB)
