SRINAGAR: Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri on Sunday refuted social media reports of a mysterious disease outbreak in Village Kotli (Bagla), stating that the cases reported are simple gastroenteritis—commonly seen during this season.
In an official statement, GMC Rajouri clarified that no unusual or unknown illness has been detected in the area. “News is being circulated on social media regarding an alleged outbreak of a mysterious disease in village Kotli (Bagla), Rajouri. In this connection, it is clarified that no such outbreak has occurred,” the statement read.
According to the college authorities, eleven cases of gastroenteritis were recently admitted, out of which ten have already been discharged. “These are routine seasonal cases. All required tests were conducted, confirming the illness as gastroenteritis,” it said.
The college urged the public not to pay heed to unverified reports and assured that the situation is being monitored.
