SRINAGAR: Government medical college Srinagar started training programme on research methodology, biostatistics, bioethics and communication skills (REMBIOCOMS) for newly admitted post graduate (MD/MD/PGD) scholars, a senior doctor associated with the programme said.

“The aim of REMBIOCOMS is to introduce these PG doctors to various methods of bio-medical research, literature search, various statistical tests, software for sampling, reference managers, basics of bioethics and communications techniques and skills at the very beginning of their PG curriculum,” said Dr Samia Rashid, principal GMC Srinagar.

This 3-month modular programme is conceived and conducted by department of community medicine, GMC Srinagar who have already conducting workshops on research methodology for faculty and resident doctors over last three years.

“The post-graduate training of doctors is based on three main pillars, that’s academics, research and patient care. It’s imperative that our doctors conduct basic and transitional research thus enabling better patient care in a given socio-demography situations which are different from rest of the world. The aim of these training in refining the research skills and acumen of our doctors,” said Dr S Muhammad Salim Khan, Head, department of community medicine, GMC Srinagar.
