SRINAGAR: Gold jewelry and other articles worth Rs 15 Lakh were stolen in a house-break-in incident on the intervening Saturday and Sunday night from a residential house in the Wani Mohalla area of Ajas in Bandipora district. The family was reportedly away attending a wedding ceremony in Srinagar.

“We were attending our cousin’s marriage ceremony at Srinagar and there was no one at home. When my sister came back from the wedding, she noticed some suspicious things. The window of my brother’s room was open. She informed us and we rushed back, only to find the golden ornaments and even some clothes being robbed”, Reyaz Ahmad Wani house owner said. He added that everything in the house was scattered and wardrobes were broken.

“We have submitted a written application to the local police, seeking immediate action to apprehend the culprits responsible for this theft,” Reyaz said.
