In wake of the aftermath of killing of four people in Dharam village in Gool Tehsil of Ramban District on Thursday in a BSF firing, entire Doda region Viz Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban District observed complete shutdown against the killing of civilians.
The protesters assembled at different place in Ramban District including Banihal, Qaziqund, Chaderkot, Ramban, Batote and other places and block the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The protesters condemn the killing of innocent people and demanded arrest of the accuse involved in manhandling local Imam and also behind the yesterday firing incident.
The protesters about 4000 in number assembled at Dharam village of Ramban and held a strong protest along with the dead bodies of the deceased who was later buried as per Islamic rituals amid heavy anti Indian and pro freedom slogans.
At several places people also offered prayers in absentia after Friday prayer.
In Doda large number of protesters in morning hours march towards Fareediya bus stand raising heavy slogans. The protesters tried to impose shutdown in the area and later on resulted into heavy clashes between the police and the protesters in which over one dozen protesters and police personals were injured.
Doda police led by SSP Doda Mohammad Arif Rishu used lathicharge, water cannons and tear shells to disperse the large gathering of protesters.
