More than 24 people were injured in clashes at Qazigund, Achabal, Dooru, Qamoh and Sagam areas of south Kashmir which erupted after Friday, prayers.

All the separatist leaders had called for peaceful protests after Friday prayers against the Gool civilian killings.

People of Chawgam, Churat, Bonigam, Kharegund etc gathered in Qazigund after Friday prayers and started shouting anti India slogans.

Hundreds of protesters marched up to the CRPF camp of 163 Battalion, stationed at Qazigund resulted in clashes between the two sides.

Sources said that the police personnel came out of the police station situated near the CRPF camp and cordoned the protesters who were pelting stones on CRPF. Police and forces used tear smoke shells and fired Pellets to disperse the angry mob resulted in the injuries to at least six protesters.

“We received six people who had pellet injuries,” Medical superintendent Qazigund, Mirji Andrabi told reporters.

The clashes went on for hours together in the area.

Qaimoh, another small town of Kulgam district also witnessed violent protests after Friday, prayers resulting in minor injuries to many people.

Reports of same type of protests and clashes have reached from Dooru, Achabal and Sagam Kokernag areas. Sources said that more than 24 people were injured in clashes in south Kashmir during the day. However, Islamabad town remained peaceful under strict curfew. Police sources said that all the injured are stable and out of danger.

A peaceful procession was taken out in Kulgam town which dispersed peacefully.
