NN Vohra, Governor, laid the foundation of the Science and Technology Block of the Kashmir University at its upcoming Zakura Campus here today. With a built up area of over 45000 square feet, this 3-storey Block will be constructed within a period of one year.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone, the Governor called upon the faculty, students and all the stakeholders to work hard to make the university a centre of excellence. He observed that Kashmir University had a glorious past and if we work with dedication and commitment this varsity will have an even brighter future. 
The Governor, who is Chancellor of the Kashmir University, discussed the Master Plan of the Zakura Campus of the University with Prof Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, the architect and the concerned officers present on this occasion, and stressed the need to ensure that all the buildings must provide for utilization of solar energy and, besides, the entire Campus must provide for rain water harvesting. He also laid stress on the most judicious use of the available land, keeping in view the future growth of the varsity, and said that fast growing species of trees should be planted along the entire boundary line for adding to the aesthetics of this Campus, which spreads over 300 kanals of land.
