Reiterating the commitment of the government to provide “pro-people and proactive” governance, the   Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Choudhary Zulfkar Ali Thursday said that the “positive perceptible change of these initiatives will be felt by the people on ground”.

The Minister was speaking during a Public meeting held at Rajouri yesterday, an official spokesperson said.

Terming the withdrawal of 104 cases against 634 persons involved in unrest during 2008 and 2009, a “welcome step” towards confidence building, the Minister said, “this would give these youth a chance to start afresh and live a normal life and it comes as a big Eid gift for them and their families.”

“The present Government is committed to restore peace and normalcy in the state and for this purpose various initiatives are underway. There is a tremendous change in the atmosphere of the state and the state is marching ahead on the path of peace progress and normalcy,” maintained the Minister.

He said that the people have “reposed trust and hope” in the coalition government and “no stone would be left unturned to strengthened this faith and promote a conducive peaceful environment in the state”.

Zulfkar said, “government is making concerted efforts to give impetus to the developmental activities and various mega projects are underway to provide better amenities to the people and ameliorate their socio-economic profile.”
