SRINAGAR: The formation of a Union territory level committee to implement the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) in Jammu and Kashmir has been approved by the government.

The Committee, as per an order a replica of which lies with Srinagar-based news agency Global News Service (GNS), will be headed by Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department as Chairman with Director Agriculture Jammu; MD, JKAGROS; MD JKHMPC; Director Agriculture Kashmir; Representative of Forest, Ecology and Environment Department (not below the rank of Additional Secretary); Representative of Tribal Affairs Department (not below the rank of Additional Secretary); Secretary KVIC; Representative of ICAR; Joint Director, Agriculture and Mushrooms, Kashmir and Joint Director Agriculture and Mushrooms, Jammu to act as members besides Director Agriculture Kashmir also to act as Nodal Officer of the committee.

The Committee has been charged with implementing, monitoring, and supervising the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as implementing Mini Missions I, II, and III in accordance with the NBHM guidelines available on the National Bee Board’s website (NBB).

The order goes on to state that the Committee will be in charge of priority tasks under the Mission headed by the National Bee Board (NBB).
