Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday said Government is keen to develop sports infrastructure to give a fillip to sports activities in the State and provide a platform for budding sportsperson to hone their skills.

These remarks were made by the Minister at an award ceremony organized by Tangmarg-based Talent Hunt organization, an official statement said.

During the function, the Minister, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said sports plays a pivotal role in shaping overall personality of youth and also helps in achieving academic excellence.

He said Government is committed to promote capacity building for broad-basing sports as well as for achieving excellence in state and national competitive events.

Later, the Minister distributed mementoes among sports persons. He also congratulates the sports athletes on the remarkable achievement in different sports categories.

On the occasion, Ghulam Hassan Mir, patron of Talent Hunt organization and former Minister, said the aim behind organizing these events is to give boost to sporting abilities of the youth in the State.

On the occasion, Secretary Education Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director Education Dr. G. N Itoo, Director SSA and others were also present.
