Govt Directs Airlines to Increase Capacity, Facilitate Tourist Travel in Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India, has issued an urgent advisory to all airlines in response to increased demand for outbound travel from Srinagar following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

“In the aftermath of the incident in Pahalgam, there is an unexpected surge in demand from tourists seeking to return to their homes. In this regard, airlines are advised to take immediate action to increase the number of flights in response to heightened demand and to ensure uninterrupted connectivity from Srinagar to various destinations across India, thereby facilitating the evacuation of stranded tourists,” reads an advisory.

The advisory also urges all airlines to consider waiving cancellation and rescheduling charges. It calls on carriers to “provide all necessary assistance to tourists facing unexpected circumstances and challenges during this difficult time.”
