SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has directed all officers and officials stationed in Srinagar and Jammu to attend the main Independence Day celebrations on August 15, declaring participation in the official functions as part of their official duty.
In a circular issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on Wednesday, the government said the main Independence Day functions will be held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar and Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu. It said every government servant has a duty to participate in the national event, which commemorates a significant milestone in the country’s history.
The circular states that any officer or official wishing to remain absent from the function must obtain prior permission from their immediate superior.
The GAD has also instructed all Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Managing Directors, Chief Executives of Public Sector Undertakings, Corporations and Boards to ensure that officers and officials working under their administrative control and posted in Srinagar or Jammu attend the celebrations at their respective venues.
