SRINAGAR: Senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, who has held several key administrative positions in Jammu and Kashmir, has been appointed Chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), according to an order issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on August 5.
Dwivedi, a 1997-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, will assume charge of the NDMC Chairperson with effect from the date he takes charge and will continue in the post until further orders.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, in its communication to the Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, said the appointment had been made with the approval of the competent authority. It also enclosed bilingual notifications for publication in the Delhi Gazette, Extraordinary.
Before his appointment to the NDMC, Dwivedi served as Additional Secretary (Establishment) in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). He has held senior positions in both the Central Government and Jammu and Kashmir during his career.
In Jammu and Kashmir, Dwivedi served as Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department (GAD), Commissioner/Secretary of Industries and Commerce, and Secretary of Health and Medical Education.
He also served as Deputy Commissioner in Jammu, Rajouri and Leh and held two terms as Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
At the Centre, Dwivedi served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry before taking up the post of Additional Secretary in the DoPT.
An engineering graduate, Dwivedi holds a B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi and has pursued further qualifications from IIM and Cambridge. He belongs to the AGMUT cadre and is domiciled in Haryana.
