Ice seems breaking now as mourning Peoples Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti, has finally called meeting of PDP core group meeting on Sunday afternoon at her Fairview residence.
Since CM and PDP patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s demise on January 07, the PDP-BJP coalition government ceases to exist in J&K.
As expected, Mehbooba Mufti, didn’t take oath as CM, however, chose to remain silent and away from the government formation process keeping everyone guessing from Srinagar to New Delhi.
The state came under governor rule on January 09 after the former coalition partners failed to stake claims of the government.
Sources said that former cabinet colleagues of late Mufti, PDP’s two MPs, two general secretaries and political advisor to PDP President, Peerzada Mansoor, are attending the proposed meeting.
The mourning Mehbooba kept herself confined to her residence at Gupkar. She didn’t talk about the government formation neither met anyone from her party. Sources reveal that she was in contact with her close aides that too on phone only.
As Hindu nationalist, BJP, showed its keenness to form the government, PDP’s Naeem Akhtar spelled the word. “We want to review our late patron’s vision and legacy for J&K; nothing happened on Agenda of Alliance,” he said.
Tomorrow’s meet is very important so far as new government formation is concerned, however, it remains to be seen which way Mehbooba leads her party which won massive mandate post 2010 uprising in Kashmir.
