Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday returned from New Delhi after her “positive” meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clear decks for government formation in the state.
Mehbooba reached Srinagar Airport at forenoon and drove straight to her Fairview residence at Gupkar.
The PDP president will preside over the important party meeting tomorrow afternoon to elect Legislative Party leader for the Lower House of the state legislature.
The meeting assumes significance after decks for government formation were cleared in New Delhi in half-an-hour meeting between Mehbooba and Modi.
Several rounds of talks were held between the leaders of the two parties to re-negotiate the government formation after PDP president asked central government for concrete assurance and timeframe for implementation of Agenda of Alliance.
The over two-month long deadlock saw top BJP leaders holding several meetings with Mehbooba and few other PDP leaders before the Tuesday’s meeting with PM. (KNS)
