On the chehlum of former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, several right wing BJP members including Sat Sharma, Dr Nirmal Singh, Chander Prakash Ganga and Bali Bhagat met Mehbooba Mufti at her residence in Srinagar on Sunday at her Fairview residence
Early in the day, Mehbooba, along with her brother and sister and party colleagues was in Bijbehara where they offered prayers on Mufti’s grave.
The former coalition partners had a meeting of around one hour.
If reports are to be believed, the PDP chief and BJP members discussed government formation. However, Mehbooba has been seeking time bound implementation of Agenda of Alliance.
J&K is under governor’s rule since January 09; two days after former CM Mufti Sayeed breathed his last. Mehbooba had asked BJP led Union government to announce JK specific CBMs to pave way for government formation.
On the other hand, MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig while chairing a condolence meet in Jammu on Sunday on Mufti’s chehlum said that there are no conditions set by PDP but reiterated that AoA must be implemented in a time bound manner. He also said that BJP and PDP are “friends not enemies” and “the alliance is still intact”.
BJP members maintained on Sunday that they had gone to offer condolences to Mehbooba, however, sources suggest that they failed in breaking impasse over government formation.
“Mehbooba Ji was not interested to discuss politics on the 40th day mourning ceremony of her late father,” they said.
Before BJP’s J&K point man, Ram Madhav, lands in Srinagar today, he discussed government formation with his party Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday.
Sources said that he will be meeting Mehbooba Mufti this afternoon.
