Incumbent Langate lawmaker Er Rasheed Thursday accused the government of misleading the house.

Reacting sharply to the information given to the house by the govt that police, army and other forces did not damage any public or private property and have shown utmost restraint during recent “mass uprising”, Rasheed asked, “How did the govt dare to mislead the house by saying so.”

“This thing doesn’t need to be told that that police and army not only played with the blood of Kashmiris but in every part of Kashmir and Chenab Valley crossed all the limits and behaved like an uncontrolled and unorganized underground Militia,” Rasheed said amid heated arguments with deputy CM Dr Nirmal Singh.

“Not only the top rank officers of police and army were everywhere giving forces a free hand to damage window panes, doors, glasses, transformers, private vehicles, shops, banks and other establishments, but even ambulances and patients were not spared,” Rasheed said according to a statement issued here.

The statement quoted Rasheed as having said: “The shops were looted in broad daylight and from Qazigund to Karnah Army and Police damaged vehicles of people.”

“There are strong evidences that cabinet ministers were constantly forcing police and army officers to damage the houses and other properties, so that people don’t dare to take to streets and are taught a lesson,” Rasheed alleged, “First calling this Assembly the most august house and then stooping so low has brought further erosion to the credibility of the house.”

Rasheed asked the cabinet ministers that if they have some conscience they must apologize for behaving like intruders and damaging property worth billions.

“By saying that police and army have not damaged any public or private property, the govt has shown the moral degradation and it is proved that the current govt has given security agencies free hand to bulldoze Kashmiris.”
