Residents of Kaloosa area of Bandipora district in northern part of Kashmir Wednesday staged massive protests against the erratic power supply, disrupting traffic on the Bandipora-Sopore for hours together.

The inhabitants of Kaloosa assembled on the Bandipora-Sopore road and sat on Dharna for almost 3 hours while staging protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) for poor power supply in the area.

The protesting residents said the people are facing manifold problems due to unscheduled power cuts of over 10 hours in a day. The Department doesn’t adhere to the schedule due to which the students preparing for examinations are facing hardships, they said.

Protesters alleged that there is no scheduled power supply to their localities and demanded immediate intervention of higher authorities into the matter.

However, after the intervention of senior police officials and PDD officials, the protesters retreated and made way for traffic.
