Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Mir Saifullah, represented Jammu and Kashmir at the Joint Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts held at New Delhi on Sunday.

Addressing the Conference, Mir Saifullah dwelt in detail on the initiatives taken by the state government to reduce pendency in the High Court and Subordinate Courts. The initiatives, he said, include filling up of vacant positions in the High Court and Subordinate Courts, creation of new courts and establishment of Dehi Adalats.

As per a statement the Minister has also said that establishment of Fast Track Courts is under active consideration of the state government to facilitate speedy disposal of cases and early dispensation of justice. He said that the state government has also taken various steps to upgrade the judicial infrastructure in the state adding that the government was considering to increase the funding to meet this goal. He has informed that the state was keen to ensure Juvenile Justice and for the purpose Care and Protection of Children Bill, 2013 has been passed by the state legislature in the recently held budget session. It will be new beginning for welfare of needy/ juvenile in the state and its implementation process would be initiated soon, he added.
