Moulana Showkat was effective, multi dimensional personality and he cannot be forgotten by any Kashmiri, chairman JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik said while paying rich tributes to Showkat on his death anniversary.
Malik who is under house arrest since his return from Pakistan, post Muhammad Afzal Guru’s hanging, was even barred from taking part in a memorial meeting on Showkat’s death anniversary.
“Moulana Showkat worked continuously for the cause of freedom and his efforts for the unity of Ummah, promotion and publication of Quran and Sunnah, his zeal to promote Quran and Sunnah and communicating it to the new generations, his philanthropy ,his works in the field of education and social work, his dream of an Islamic University ,establishing free or nonprofit based heath care centers and his leadership ,all these qualities bear a witness to the fact that Showkat was a legendary Figure who cannot be ignored even by his enemies”, said Malik.
He added that Showkat worked day in and day out for the cause of unity among the Muslims of Jammu Kashmir.
In this regard a meeting of remembrance was today held at JKLF headquarters Maqbool Manzil in which hundreds of JKLF workers and leaders participated. The meeting was presided over by the vice chairman JKLF advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt and was attended by all members of JKLF and many others.
