Government on Monday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the killing of cattle trader in army firing in Kohli area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district yesterday.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Shoukat Ajaz Bhat confirmed that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

He said SDM Gool will conduct the inquiry and submit the report to his office within a given time frame.

Notably, army men had shot dead Gujjar in a village of Gool area in mountainous Ramban district of the state.

Gujjar (28) and Shakeel Ahmad (30) were fired upon by soldiers of army’s 58 Rashtriya Rifles unit when they were leaving Kohli village around 4 am, an official said.

Gujjar died on the spot and Ahmad who was injured in the firing was removed to district hospital Ramban for treatment.
