Government Monday suspended Professor Forensic Medicine GMC Jammu, Dr Bupesh Khajuria.

According to government order no. 657 –HME, dated January 02, 2047, Dr Khajuria has further been attached with the directorate of health services, Jammu.

The doctor according to spokesman has been suspended in terms of Rule-31(2) of J&K Civil Services (classification, control and Appeal) Rule, 1956.

The decision came within a day after four lawmakers from Ladakh met the Chief Minister asking her to act in a case in which a Ladakhi student was molested. After the meeting, in which Ms Mufti assured them action, Congress issued a statement saying they have demanded stern action against the culprit, “a senior doctor of the forensic department of GMC Jammu.” They told the Chief Minister that there should be no leniency and culprit should be brought  to the book. There are serious allegations against the accused who used to indulged in such kind of activities for the past several years and used to threatened the girls of failing them in examination . They demanded that he should be terminated from the services so that in future the students are not exploited by him.

The delegation that met the Chief Minister comprised lawmakers representing Leh, Zanskar, Kargil and Nubra. They told the Chief Minister that though this molestation was the first case of its kind in Jammu, this however was the first case in which the victim dared to register an FIR.
