Jammu & Kashmir Women Development Corporation (JKWDC) has disbursed an amount of Rs. 138 crore and covered 15794 beneficiaries under various centrally and state-sponsored schemes, this was stated in a meeting chaired by Minister for Social Welfare, Sajad Gani Lone.

Minister of State for Health & Medical Education, Social Welfare and Housing & Urban Development Departments, Asiea Naqash, was also present in the meeting.

Sajad Lone, while addressing the meeting, appreciated JKWDC for its performance and quick clearance of various accounts in arrears since long.

Managing Director JKWDC Dr Nadeed Soz informed the meeting that JKWDC as a Vocational Training Provider imparted training to 5598 beneficiaries under various trades and provided an amount of Rs. 4.88 crore in favor of the Self Help Groups (SHGs) framed during training under government implemented Micro Finance Schemes.

Lone according to spokesman stressed that JKWDC should take initiatives of preparing high end designs to compete international market after branding WDC products. He also emphasized upon creation of emporiums under the umbrella of the organization to provide the women with a common platform to exhibit and sell their products.

Asiea Naqas while highlighting the role of JKWDC in social economic development of women said that this organization has become a role model for other agencies dealing with employment of women. She added that the Corporation has successfully carried out its activities not only in cities and towns but also in the remote areas of the State.

Secretary Social Welfare Department Sajad Ahmad Khan, Director BoD JKWDC Gazala Amin Noor, Director BoD JKWDC Dr. Neelofar Khan, Assistant Director Planning & Development besides various other officials were present in the meeting
