The minister said that the government will deliver textbooks to deserving students as soon as possible. “We are in the process of distributing free textbooks to the students. We will soon begin distributing the textbooks.”

She said that some textbooks were already available in the stores at JKBOSE.

Meanwhile, officials from JKBOSE confirmed that some textbooks were already available in the stores in the Jammu and Kashmir divisions, respectively.

“We have ordered the publication of the books based on the requisitions received from the concerned Chief Education Officers (CEOs),” an official said.

He added, “We have received some of the titles and will soon begin the distribution process.”

It is worth noting that the academic progress of students in government schools has been significantly affected in previous years, as students enrolled in these institutions typically receive free textbooks very late, even after the commencement of the new academic session.

In 2023, the department was unable to deliver free textbooks, even after nearly two months had passed since the new academic session started in schools.

The delay in textbook distribution in schools had previously left students at a disadvantage, as the department failed to distribute textbooks on time. (KNO)
