SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has taken measures to restore roads damaged by landslides, floods and other incidents, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary informed the Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
Replying to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Balwant Singh Mankotia, Choudhary said the condition of affected roads was being monitored through field formations, while permanent restoration works had been sanctioned for identified damages.
He said regular slip clearance was also being carried out wherever required to maintain traffic connectivity, particularly in areas vulnerable to landslides and floods.
Giving details of the affected roads, the Deputy Chief Minister said the Nagulta-Razar road has been divided into two parts, with Part-I measuring 11 km and Part-II 12.7 km.
Nagulta-Razar Part-I was completed in January 2024, he said, adding that permanent restoration works costing Rs 47.99 lakh had been sanctioned and were 75 per cent complete.
Part-II of the road was completed in October 2022 and is currently being maintained by the contractor. An estimate of Rs 35.29 lakh has been prepared for permanent restoration of damage caused during 2026-27, Choudhary said.
He added that restoration works costing Rs 95.73 lakh for damage caused by the 2025-26 floods were already 70 per cent complete on Nagulta-Razar Part-II.
On the 17-km Gujad-Chirdi road, the Deputy Chief Minister said the road was completed in December 2021. Permanent restoration works costing Rs 35.19 lakh had been sanctioned and were 90 per cent complete.
Regarding the 20.7-km Narsoo-Thanidhar road, Choudhary said it was completed in June 2023 and was being maintained by the contractor.
Permanent restoration works costing Rs 31.99 lakh, sanctioned for flood damage during 2025-26, had been completed, he said.
