SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary on Tuesday assured the Legislative Assembly that all ongoing road projects in Jammu and Kashmir will be expedited to ensure their timely completion.
Replying to a supplementary question in the House, the Deputy CM stated that macadamisation work on the road along the old Bringi Canal from Hiller to Wandevelgam was successfully completed in March 2023 under the Languishing Scheme. However, two sections—150 metres at Adigam and 140 metres at Nagam—remain pending due to existing structures and trees obstructing the alignment.
Responding to a query from MLA Zafar Ali Khatana, Choudhary informed that the Hangalgund-Kharpora road project was completed in 2022 under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). However, he clarified in a written reply that there is currently no proposal for the upgradation or widening of the Hangalgund-Puro road.
On fund allocation under NABARD, the Deputy CM stated that funds are released annually for approved projects based on the sanctioned cost and the progress of work.
