Govt to Provide ‘Shelter’ to Domestic Violence Victims

Responding to a question of PDP lawmaker, Anjum Fazili, that special homes be made for the victims of domestic violence, government Tuesday said that special shelter homes shall be constructed one each in Jammu and Kashmir regions.

Anjum Fazili while speaking raised the issue of rising domestic violence cases in Kashmir valley, particularly.

MoS Health, Asiya Naqash said, “the government met the domestic violence victims; the issue is serious.”

Asiya added that the victims are under social and parental pressures.

“Government shall construct shelter homes for such victims in Kashmir and Jammu as well,” she said adding, “to overcome the pressure, they shall be put in such homes and ue course of action shall follow to record their statements.”

While Asiya was making the statement, independent legislator, Er Rashid said, “Talk about Asiya-Neelofar; discuss Kunan-Poshpora; What about Asiya Andrabi? Where will you keep Asiya Ji?”
