Governor N N Vohra, Patron and President, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) Tuesday approved grant of financial assistance to the Voluntary Cultural and Literary Organizations for 2012-13 and 2013-14.

As per the recommendations of the Expert Committees (Inspection Committee), the Governor has approved cumulative financial assistance of Rs 24.43 lakh for 125 Organizations for the financial year 2012-13, and Rs 27.34 lakh for 129 Organizations for the financial year 2013-14, an official spokesperson said this evening.

The Governor directed Dr Aziz Hajini, Secretary JKAACL that the cases for financial assistance should be processed timely and further, it should reach the actual beneficiaries regularly on annual/half yearly/quarterly basis and deposited into their respective Bank Accounts.

During 2012-13, 190 organizations had applied for the grant of financial assistance. The Inspection Committee recommended 125 organizations (79 from Kashmir, 43 from Jammu and 3 from Ladakh) for grant of financial assistance to the tune of Rs 24.43 lakh. During 2013-14, 147 organizations had applied for grant of financial assistance and the Inspection Committee recommended 123 organizations (73 from Kashmir, 44 from Jammu and 6 from Ladakh) for grant of financial assistance to the tune of Rs 27.34 lakh. The financial assistance is provided on annual basis to a maximum of 150 organizations in the State, within the budgetary provisions for the Scheme.
