A delegation of the National Conference Party led by MLA Devender Singh Rana, called on Governor N N  VohraIn Jammu at the Raj Bhavan on Monday.

“The delegation raised issue about NC’s concerns regarding growing intolerance among people belonging to different faiths and regions which has serious implications for communal harmony and peaceful co-existence. They also voiced their concern about the attempts for trifurcating the State and granting Union Territory status to Ladakh; inadequacy of the flood relief package recently announced by the Union government; delay in the rehabilitation of West Pakistan refugees, border dwellers and Kashmiri migrants; need for an effective policy for absorbing unemployed youth; bringing Jammu and Katra cities under Smart Cities Mission; opening of more primary schools; particularly mobile schools for the nomadic children; effective development of the far flung and remote areas; engagement of NYC volunteers; early completion of Tawi Lake Project; fast tracking recruitment for early filling up of vacant posts in various government departments etc,” an official statement said this evening.

The Governor observed that the issues raised would be taken up with the State Government and exhorted the NC delegation to work towards welfare and development of the State.

The delegation included among others, Surjit Singh Salathia and Ajay Sadhotra, former Ministers.
