The residents of Gulshan Nagar Nowgam Bypass are up in the arms against the Government for turning their Colony into Tipper stand and allowing tipper movement freely round the clock.

Residents of Gulshan Nagar B Colony Sunday warned of wide spread protests in case government fails to address their problems. They hold the government responsible for all the mess in their colony. “Traffic police in lieu of few coins allow tipper drivers to ply freely in the area even though it is a no entry zone. We fail to understand why barriers that barred tippers and passenger vehicles to enter into colony were removed. We are suffering heavily and fear for the lives of our school going children,” one of the residents Abdul Gani Wani told CNS.

The residents said that ERA have removed the barriers right from 2002 violating court orders and even after passing of a decade not bothering to install them which gives room for tipper drivers to ply freely in the colony.

“The traffic police near the vicinity in Nowgam Chowk were so many times requested to restrain the free movement of Heavy Motor Vehicles inside the colony from the no entry point but no action was taken in this regard,” the residents said.

The residents slammed ERA for constructing drainage system at snail’s pace in the colony. “It is irony that the construction of drainage system started by ERA in 2002 is still incomplete in all respects. The deep ditches look like fish ponds during rainy season and it becomes difficult for us even to visit nearby Masjid,” residents said.

SP Traffic City, Haseeb-u-Rehman told CNS that he will shot a letter to the concerned agency to erect a barricade there so that no tipper could enter into the Coloney. “There were barricades but that were removed as ERA was constructing drains in the area. We are going to erect the barricades once again to relive people from the mess,” he said.

Despite repeated attempts Dirctor ERA could not be contacted.
