Police Sunday claimed it arrested Peoples Democratic Party Sarpanch for his alleged involvement in stone-pelting in North Kashmir’s Palhalan area of Pattan town.

Police sources told CNS the Palhalan Sarpanch Mohammad Akbar Bhat son Abdul Jabbar resident of Bhat Mohalla was spotted indulging in stone-pelting in Palhalan area during protests. “Police immediately swung into action and the said Sarpanch was arrested during a raid. The accused belongs to People’s Democratic Party,” a police official said.

A case vide FIR number184/2013 has been registered against the accused. Meanwhile, the family members of the Sarpanch alleged that Mohammad Akbar is innocent and he was implicated in a false case. “How could an elderly Sarpanch come on road and pelt stones on police. This is hard to swallow,” they said.
