SRINAGAR: A gunfight broke out between militants and counter insurgent forces in Zakura area in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Saturday early morning.
Reports said that a joint team of CRPF and Police launched a cordon and search operation in Zakura area after having credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team of Police and CRPF approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.
When last reports came intermittent firing was going on.
