SRINAGAR: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in the Narla area of Rajouri district on Tuesday, officials said.

They said that a joint team of police, Army, and CRPF, after receiving information about the presence of militants, launched a search operation in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, hiding militants opened fire upon the party. The security forces retaliated, triggering an encounter.

They also mentioned that the exchange of fire is ongoing in the area, with two to three militants believed to be trapped in the vicinity. (KS)
