Srinagar

A gunfight broke out on early Tuesday morning between the government forces and militants in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

According to an official, a joint team of Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles, special operations group (SOG)  and CRPF laid a cordon at Nowpora area of Tujjer in Sopore last night and started a cordon and search operation (CASO). Militants hiding in the area opened fire upon the forces in a bid to break the cordon, triggering a gunfight.

Soon after the encounter started, the internet services were snapped for the precautionary measures.
