Srinagar: A gunfight has started between militants and forces in Chadoora village of Budgam district in the wee hours of Tuesday, police said.

A police official told Kashmir Life that a militant is holed up in a residential house in Zuin village and the operation to take him out is going on.

Reports said that cross firing was going on however there was no casualty from any side.

The officials said that army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police cordoned off Durbugh village early Tuesday after inputs about the presence of militants.

“As the forces approached towards the suspected spot, the militants opened fire which was retaliated, triggering an encounter,” he said.

The official said that one militant is believed to be firing from a residential house.

Meanwhile, local reports said that three heavy blasts were heard since 6 am.

They said that army blocked the Srinagar-Chadoora road.
