SRINAGAR: The Army said on Thursday that a gunfight with militants commenced in the Buffiaz area of Surankote in Poonch during a cordon-and-search operation.
“Based on hard intelligence, a joint operation was launched in the general area of DKG last night. Contact has been established today evening, and the encounter is in progress,” said the Army’s Jammu-based spokesperson in a statement.
“Further details are being ascertained,” he added.
Meanwhile, reinforcements of the army and police have been rushed to the area.
