Gunfight rages in Pathan area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday between militants and government forces.
Reports said that a joint team of army’s 55RR, SOG Pulwama and 183/182 BN CRPF cordoned off the suspected area. As soon as a joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.
An official said that contact has been established with the hiding militants. As per sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
Till this report was filed intermittent firing was going on. Meanwhile, clashes are being reported near the encounter site in Pathan. People have gathered near the site and clashes are going on. (GNS)
