Gunfight rages in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara

A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Sekipora area of Bijbehara town of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Friday.

Reports said that army, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF launched a search operation in the area following “specific’ inputs about the presence of militants.

As soon as the forces approached the suspected spot, the militants hiding in a residential house opened fire on them. The forces retaliated, triggering a gunfight.

While confirming the news of the gunfight, police wrote on its Twitter handle: “Exchange of fire between security force and militants at Bijbhera District Anantnag. Security forces on Job. Details will follow.”
