SRINAGAR: Officials said the 85-kilometre Bandipora-Gurez road has reopened for one-way traffic after being closed due to heavy snowfall on Saturday.

An official confirmed that the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for maintaining the route, has completed snow clearance operations.
As a result, vehicular movement was allowed to resume on the Gurez-Bandipora road under strict traffic regulations, the official said.
Unlike previous years, when the Gurez-Bandipora road remained closed for nearly three months during winter due to heavy snow accumulation, particularly at Razdan Pass, this year, traffic movement was suspended for only 28 days.
Authorities have announced that the road will officially open for two-way traffic from tomorrow, ensuring smoother connectivity for the residents of Gurez who depend on this vital link for essential supplies and travel.
The reopening of the road comes as a relief for the residents of Gurez, who rely heavily on this connection during the winter months. (JKNS)
