Gurudwaras across Kashmir saw religious zeal as ‘Gurpurab’, the birth anniversary of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev, was celebrated on Wednesday.

In Srinagar, the biggest function was held at Chitti Padshahi by the Sikh community of the valley. Since early morning Sikhs from across Valley started pouring in at Chitti Padshi Gurudwara and offered prayers.

At Gurudwaras across Kashmir, devotees could be seen offering prayers to mark the 546th birth anniversary of the Guru.

Hymns were rendered at Chithi Padshahi and other Gurudwaras to mark the occasion.

Langars (community kitchens), were arranged at several places in and around the religious places.

Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed greeted people on the occasion and urged them to follow the Guru’s teachings and to maintain peace and harmony.

Elaborate arrangements were made by the district administration to facilitate hassle free parking.

Intricate security measures were put in place to avoid any untoward incident.
