SRINAGAR: The Haj Committee of India has invited online applications from eligible female pilgrims for 500 Haj-2027 seats under the Mehram category, providing an opportunity to women who could not apply earlier because of passport-related or other genuine reasons.
The provision, outlined in Haj Policy-2027, is intended for female pilgrims whose male companions (Mehram) have already applied for Haj-2027 and been selected.
According to a circular issued by the Haj Committee of India on September 16, 2026, the online application window will open on September 23 and remain available until October 7 through the committee’s official website.
Under the eligibility conditions, a female applicant must not have performed Haj previously through the Haj Committee of India, Haj Group Organisers or any other means. She must also meet all other requirements prescribed under the Haj-2027 policy.
Applicants must hold a valid, machine-readable Indian International Passport issued on or before October 7, 2026, and valid until at least December 31, 2027.
Applications will have to be submitted online only. The committee said hard-copy, handwritten or typed applications would not be accepted.
Applicants are required to upload the first and last pages of their passport, a recent passport-size photograph, proof of address and a valid document establishing their relationship with the Mehram. Applications missing any of the prescribed documents will be rejected.
The committee has also specified that a Haj cover can contain a maximum of five pilgrims. A female pilgrim therefore cannot apply under the Mehram category if the relevant cover already has five pilgrims.
Women who have already applied for Haj-2027 and whose covers have been generated are also excluded from applying under the special category.
The applications will be assessed on merit and subject to seat availability. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the 500-seat quota, the seats will be allocated through Digital Random Selection (Qurrah).
