Government forces on Friday called off the cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) after the trapped militants, escaped in Hajin Town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Reports said that the cordon and search operation, which started the early morning after the exchange of fire between militants and forces was called off as militants managed to escape.

Earlier CASO was launched in the village following a tip-off about the presence of militants. He said the militants opened fire on the forces, triggering a brief gunfight.

As the news spread, intense clashes erupted between youth and forces.

According to reports, the youth took to streets soon after forces launched a search operation. Youth pelted stones on government forces who retaliated with tear smoke shells triggering clashes.

Following clashes in the area the militants have escaped, an official said.
