Amid wails and cries, thousands of men and women, on Monday took part in the funeral prayers of Syed Owais in Kokernag village of Islamabad. Owais was killed during an encounter between the government forces and militants in Hakoora village of district Islamabad on Monday morning.
Local sources said that a large number of people attended his funeral prayers and pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were raised by the mourners during his funeral.
The forces deployed in the area fired several tear-gas shells to disperse the protesters, triggering further clashes, reports claimed.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Kashmir parts to mourn the killings of three militants. The authorities have also suspended the internet services and rail service in Kashmir as a precautionary measure.
