According to the order issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, it has been observed that children in the sub-division are frequently entering Nallahs, rivers, streams, and ponds to escape the rising temperatures. The administration warned that these sites lack safety infrastructure, rescue mechanisms, and certified supervision, posing serious risks.

The advisory stated that past incidents have resulted in fatalities, turning moments of relief into tragedy. Parents and guardians have been urged to monitor their children’s activities and ensure they do not bathe in or go near any open water bodies.

To strengthen enforcement, the Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control Division, Handwara, has been directed to deploy field staff for monitoring vulnerable locations. All Tehsildars in the sub-division have also been asked to mobilise Lumberdars and Chowkidars to assist in surveillance and prevent such activities.
