Condemning arrest of a youth and suspension of five government employees from services at Handwara in North Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson Syedah Asiya Andrabi Tuesday termed it as the “worst manifestation of our slavery”.

“One hand a young girl is molested, those who raise voice against it are fired upon. Four young boys and an aged woman are killed, dozens are injured critically and instead of taking actions against the perpetrators of these murders, so-called administration chose to arrest two of our youth and suspended services of employees thus adding insult to injury,” Asiya said in a statement issued this evening.

“Whenever a country annexes any area the first thing it does is that it destroys the honour and self-esteem of the subjects. So that they become aware that they hold no right in front of the master. Normal course of justice would have been that the army men who fired upon the people are booked and arrested but the concerned DC says that we are not sure who fired on the day of the killing. This proves the worth of Kashmiri blood and lives in the eyes of Indian subjugators. If we still hold any soft corner for these people then it is our bad luck,” Asiya said.

“We request the people of entire Jammu Kashmir particularly Handwara and Kupwara that they should protest against this murder of justice and honour as these arrests have been made on the statement given by a minor girl under arrest and duress. People should understand this situation and rise up against this. We the freedom loving people can be weak but we can’t be shameless so if we fail to do so then unfortunately this slavery is our fate,” she added.
