SRINAGAR: In anticipation of the cabinet reshuffle, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has dropped Rural Development and Law Minister Abdul Haj Khan.
Khan represents the Lolab assembly segment in the state assembly. Reasons for his exclusion from the cabinet were not immediately known. “Everybody knows why he was dropped,” one PDP insider said without explaining the reason.
Others dropped from the council of minister included Dr Nirmal Singh, the former Deputy Chief Minister, and Priya Sethi. Bali Baghat has also been dropped by the BJP. He was the Health Minister of J&K.
Dr Singh would now be the Speaker and his position in the cabinet is being taken by Kavinder Gupta.
The new ministers are right now taking the oath of office.
