SRINAGAR: The Central University of Kashmir has directed all students of its Department of Biotechnology at Nunar Campus to attend a committee briefing on October 13 as part of an inquiry into allegations of harassment involving a female student.
In a communication issued on October 10, the university’s Proctorial Wing asked the head of the department to ensure that all students are available for the briefing, scheduled for 11 am, to provide information relevant to the investigation.
The inquiry follows a protest by students at the university’s Nunar campus in Ganderbal on September 30 over allegations that a female student had been harassed by the head of the department. The protest prompted the university administration to initiate an internal inquiry.
The committee was constituted through an order dated October 5.
According to the university, students’ participation is necessary to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident and provide information that could assist the investigation.
