Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani has extended the strike call up to February 17, however it has made it clear that there will be no strike on Monday, February 18.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat general secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai quoting Geelani told Kashmir Life on phone, “on Saturday and Sunday, there will be complete shutdown.” He added that due to the ‘high handedness of police’ people could not offer Jinaza in absentia which is a clear indication that the authorities are using force against people and the common masses are not allowed to even perform their religious obligations.

“We are not going to let our demand for the return of Afzal’s mortal remains because it is the right of the family of Afzal to have the body,” said Sehrai quoting Geelani.

Sehari however, made it clear that there will be no strike on Monday, February 18.
