SRINAGAR

Senior National Conference Leaders Abdul Rahim Rather and Syed Aga Ruhullah and MLC (Panchayat Raj) Ali Muhammad Dar addressed two public meetings in Beerwah in Budgam District.

According to a statement issued to KNS, asserting that the politically mature people of the State have always rejected divisive and communal forces, the senior National Conference leader and the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather today exuded confidence that this time too they will give massive mandate to the NC-Congress alliance candidates as both these parties have a strong secular history at their back.

He warned the people against the tendency of communalization of  politics for selfish gains adding that communal politics would be detrimental, not only for Jammu and Kashmir State , but for the unity and  integrity of the whole country.

Speaking at a largely attended public gathering at Beerwah, in Central District Budgam today, orgainsed in favour of the contesting candidate for Srinagar –Budgam Parliamentary constituency, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Rather asked the people to differentiate between sincerity and treachery and vote for the achievements and people friendly agenda of the National Conference-Congress Coalition. He said J&K National Conference from its very inception has been tirelessly espousing the cause of common people of the state and has offered supreme sacrifices to protect and uphold their honour and rights.

“Some parties in  electoral fray today,  having different colours have the sole agenda to polarize the society on regional and religious bases to satiate their  dubious  political interests ”, Rather said adding that current  parliamentary elections is a big and decisive  fight between secular and communal forces not only in the state but in the entire  country. Rather said while the past of BJP is black for engineering communal riots in Gujarat during Narender Modi’s tenure, the PDP is responsible for bringing many anti –people and  draconian laws in the state when its patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was at the helm of affairs. Rather said that the fact remains that these opportunist political parties have no worthwhile  agenda to present before the people and are hence indulging in policy of hatred and deceit to bring  miseries and hardship to the people.

Rather presented a detailed account of the achievements of present coalition government headed by Omar Abdullah and asked the people to vote in its favour for  its outstanding performance on all counts . He said the state government during last five and a half years has made many strides in almost every sector of economy with focus on equitable development of the remote and backward pockets of the state .He said creation of new administrative units, hospitals, Medical colleges and anti graft laws are some of the landmark achievements of the coalition government.
