Chairman Jammu Kashmir liberation Front (JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik Saturday was arrested along with several others in an injured condition when they were going towards Baramulla to attend a public gathering.

According to a JKLF statement Malik and others were intercepted by Police, SOG,RR and CRPF near Palhalan Pattan, “these forces  attacked the caravan of JKLF with canes, butts and sticks injuring more than a dozen person including Malik. On the occasion Malik was arrested along with Mushtaq Ajmal, Shameem Hussein, Shahid Makaya, Mohammad Irfan Khan, Mohammad Habibullah, Yasir Maqbool the arrested have been shifted to some unknown place.”

The statement said that the Police also trashed and damaged many vehicles that were a part of the caravan. “Before the arrests Yasin sahib along with others started his journey towards Baramullah early in the morning. Police had laid siege and barricades over the roads leading towards Baramullah.”

Condemning the assault on Malik and his arrest along with several others, JKLF spokesman termed this as a mere frustration of Indian rulers and their Kashmiri stooges. he said that only a few days ago DGP of police had issued a statement in which he to hoodwink international opinion had announced that nobody from resistance camp will be arrested or stopped from performing peaceful political activities but today Malik and others have been stopped and arrested  but also assaulted with rifles and batons.

Spokesman said that these arrests and assaults have once again portrayed the frustration of Indian rulers and their Kashmiri puppets who on one hand claim democracy and on other hand stop people from performing democratic peaceful activities.

Spokesman further said, “by today’s assault on Yasin sahib and his arrest in fact India and its Kashmiri puppets have conceded a defeat before the contest. As the news of assault on Malik and others and their arrest reached Baramullah, people in large numbers came out of their homes to protest against this barbaric act of police and SOG.”
